Vinted Users Express Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
